Michele Lippens has been a resident of Somerville for over twenty years. Michele and her husband, Kenny Lippens, a lieutenant on the Somerville Fire Department, are raising three children who all attend Somerville Public Schools.
Michele is a highly qualified and experienced educator in the Cambridge school system, where she works as a math coach. She more than meets the criteria to serve on the Somerville School Committee and supports curriculum that meets the varied needs of our student body.
Michele also fully understands how critical it is to bridge the gap between parents and school personnel. This is a role that is deeply familiar to her. She stepped up to lead the Somerville Special Education Parent Advisory Council, served on the PTA, and has continually advocated for families in our community.
I got to know Michele when she ran for School Committee in 2019. While she was not successful, she did not give up! She continued to work hard. Her passion for her chosen career motivates her daily, as demonstrated in her parenting and teaching, with the goal of creating an education system where all children have an equal chance to be successful.
Michele’s candidacy affords the Ward 3 voters access to her vast experience as a teacher and advocate. There will be no learning curve, she will hit the ground running. She is a strong candidate who is ethical, committed, and prepared.
Michele is the right candidate for these difficult times.
