My name is Michele Lippens.

I’ve spent nearly 20 years as a Massachusetts public school teacher.

I focus on creating inclusive classrooms where every learner can succeed. I hold dual licensure in Elementary Education and Teaching Students with Moderate Disabilities, with additional certifications in math instruction.

Beyond teaching, I’ve served as an instructional leader through the Teacher Leadership Initiative (MTA and NEA) and as an adjunct professor at Lesley University. I understand how budgetary decisions impact our classrooms, our teachers, and most importantly, our students.

My priority is equity—ensuring every child has access to the resources and supports they need to thrive. I’m committed to transparency in school governance and policies that prepare our students to be lifelong learners and confident change-makers.

As a parent, I’ve experienced our schools from both sides of the desk.

My husband is a lieutenant with the Somerville Fire Department, and together we’re raising three children who attend Somerville Public Schools—currently in 9th, 6th, and 4th grade. We met while serving our country through AmeriCorps in 2000.

I’ve taken on leadership roles with the Somerville Special Education Parent Advisory Council, helping other families navigate their children’s educational journeys.

I’m running to serve the families of Ward 3 because I believe in the power of our public schools to strengthen our entire community.
